Erasmus students' favourite places in Carinthia/Austria during their stay in summer term 2023
This day my friends and I decided to prepare a special meal based in our typical food so we prepared potatoes omelettes, croquetas and many other thing from our country, then after the lunch we went to Nautilus residence and we saw the sunset from the rooftop with many other people, that day I meet a lot of new people and I enjoy a lot having a good time with my friends (Celia from Spain).
One of the most significant experiences in Austria was visiting Hallstatt. I really liked this town because I think that it's very beautiful, and also we visited it in February and there was a lot of snow, so it was even more beautiful. I will recommend this place to everybody because it's really worth visiting (Pilar from Spain).
When my parents were visiting, we met the tower watchman of the Stadtpfarrturm on our tour through the centre of Klagenfurt. He invited us to visit the tower with him and gave us a guided tour, during which he told us a lot about the tower, the bells and the carillon. From the top we could enjoy the beautiful view over Klagenfurt and had a great view of the mountains and the sunset (Hannah from Germany).
One of the best experiences I had this year in Austria was when the university took us to visit the Pyramidenkogel viewpoint. From this viewpoint we could see the whole Worthersee lake, the surrounding mountains, forests and villages perfectly. It was a very fun experience as we got there by boat on the lake and then by bus (Pedro from Spain).
I want to share my most significant and best memory so far in Austria. I am very grateful that I had an opportunity to visit Mozart's birthplace in Salzburg since I am his great fan. I got super inspired and happy about that (Kristina from Ukraine).
On our unforgettable group excursion, my friends and I decided to take an excursion by embarking on a lama walking adventure. As we trekked through scenic trails, the gentle presence of these magnificent creatures added a touch of enchantment to our journey. Together, we bonded with our newfound furry companions, creating a truly extraordinary and memorable experience that will forever hold a special place in our hearts (Luka from
Montenegro).
Europapark, situated Klagenfurt, have played a prominent role for me during the entire semester. I’ve made it a habit to come there once a month in order to enjoy the singing of birds, the beauty and diversity of plants and blossoms around, admire the leisurely splashing of the fountain in the lake and acknowledge, estimate all the events that I have passed here. It is curious that every time I glance at this marvelous place from different, fresh perspectives through the lens of maturity and experience gained. The park became my spot of inspiration and strength. I would like to express sincere gratitude for providing me such a precious experience that altered my outlook to the fullest extent made me stronger (Vika from Ukraine).
When I think about my time in Austria, so many significant experiences come to mind. I can confidently say that my entire stay here was not just a significant experience, but something more, as it left an indelible mark on my life. Among the most unforgettable events, I can highlight the day when Yulia, Vika, Kristina and I visited Vienna, as it was our first trip in Austria, the day when I had the opportunity to watch the Eurovision Song Contest, where I had the chance to meet many interesting people from Ukraine and other countries. Lastly, the day of our first excursion around Klagenfurt (I came here and I couldn't even imagine how much my life would change. This event was significant for me, the first glimpse of the city where I was supposed to live 4 months, as well as my initial meeting with the people I would study with during that period, and my first impressions about Klagenfurt). I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed to my participation in this program. It gave me more than I could have expected (Sasha from Ukraine).
I want to share with you this picture from my visit to Salzburg. It represents the beautiful Austrian traditions and warms my heart, knowing that people still embrace their roots. The shot was taken near the Mirabelle Palace, which makes it even more magical. The blooming spring, the costumes, and the breathtaking architecture - that's my vision of happiness! (Yuliia from Spain)
One of my favorite experiences in Klagenfurt is every day that I go with my friends to the lake. I love the days when I go for picnics and swimming in the lake with my friends. Besides, the scenery you can see from there is what I like most about the city (Andrea from Spain).
My most important experience during my Erasmus in Austria in Klagenfurt was the opportunity to encounter cultural diversity and meet people from different backgrounds. Interacting with students from various countries allowed me to broaden my worldview and understand how diverse and fascinating other cultures can be. This experience expanded my horizons and provided me with a fresh perspective on the world (Yuliia from Slovakia).
This photo is from the Klagenfurt am Wörthersee side. I took this photo while we were searching different types of plants for our science education course and I have never been in this part of the lakeside. I was impressed because the combination of colours is really wonderful. It makes me feel so relaxed. You can study, read books or even just have a rest there and at the same time, you can enjoy this beautiful scenery (Sümeyye from Turkey).
My most significant experience was my first swim in the lake weeks ago. Few people can say that they have the experience of bathing in a lake as large as the Wörthersee. For me, it was a very happy moment because I feel the lake as a place of disconnection, peace of mind, and reflection. In this picture you can see how happy I was after the bath. Without a doubt this is my favourite place in Klagenfurt and I will always keep my best memories here (Silvia from Spain).
One of the most significant experiences for me in Austria is travelling, as it is helping me to become more independent and to mature as a person. This photo is from my first trip in Hallstatt and it was amazing to see how much snow there was. I was very happy and enjoying the snow, even though it was very cold and I was not used to being in such cold temperatures. Despite the cold, I had a great time (Alejandra from Spain).
One of the most significant experiences of my Erasmus in Austria is the walk with the Alpacas. Before coming here I knew that they lived in Austria, and it was one of my dreams to see one of these curious animals that, in my country, Spain, do not exist. Besides, I was able to enjoy a walk in the snow and learn a little more about them and about my new classmates, which was one of the first times I was with them. I think I will always remember that excursion (Alicia from Spain).
My most significant experience in Austria were the hikings I made with the friends I made in this country, such the one I made on the first days of May near Villach, in which we had the opportunity of watching beautiful landscapes, waterfalls and the opportunity of watching several things we hadn’t had the chance of visiting before due to the climate. I wish in the next weeks I could make several more with them because I believe this was one of the most enjoyable things I made (Ivan from Spain).
